Sustainable Activewear by Born Nouli

Why do we need sustainable activewear?

The fashion industry is responsible for approximately 10% of all human-made greenhouse gas house emissions. We take our commitment to sustainability seriously knowing the way in which we produce our fabrics has a huge impact. Our material selection focuses on choosing the right fabrics to create the best possible product which is lasting, fit for purpose and has the least environmental impact.

Addressing the Plastic Problem

Between 4.8 and 12.7 million tons of plastic enter our oceans every year. This doesn't even account for the mountains of plastic that are incinerated and sent to landfill. Despite public awareness, the rate in which our societies produce plastic waste is not relenting. We work hard to search for fabrics that can tick both the ethical and sustainable boxes and we are now proud to say that all of our products containing polyester and polyamide (nylon) are made using recycled materials.

Leggings Made from Recycled Plastic

Our custom engineered fabrics are made from post consumer used recycled plastics. (Because they look better on you, than they do in our oceans). The plastic is sorted, stripped and cleaned. From there it is broken down into flakes, melted into pellets, spun into yarn and knitted into our performance fabrics without the use of petroleum. This method reduces up to 80% of energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.

How Our Activewear Is Sustainable

All of our prints are produced with eco friendly sublimation printing, resulting in less water, electricity and waste. The fabrics can be recycled forever, helping to close the loop on the plastic problem and create a circular manufacturing process.

Sustainable Activewear Takes More Than a Village

And finally....It wouldn't be right if we didn't mention the awesome people that manufacture our amazing products. Our manufacturing partners are Fair Wear Foundation & SA8000 certified factories. This means our products have been manufactured by hardworking people who are treated as humans should be treated. This means fair wages. no discrimination and freely chosen employment.
